Background

The European training and education systems are subject to changes. They are being adapted to the coordinates of the new millennium. In this context, lifelong learning must become the leading principle for a sustained participation of the European citizens to an active life.
The next 10 years will be dedicated to implementing this vision.

All European citizens, irrespective of their origin, will need to be granted equal education opportunities in order to be able to adapt to the socio-economic changes, offering them the opportunity to participate actively in the development of the future of Europe by facilitating their access to all types of education throughout their lifetime.

Lifelong learning will represent our bridge to the future, in a unique, individual way.

Romanian Society for Lifelong Learning, founded in 2001, is an association whose ideals totally identify with the fulfilment of these desiderata.

Considering that the notions, competences and skills acquired during childhood and adolescence, within the family or at school, during professional or university training are not sufficient in order to be competitive in the present society, our organization supports the process of providing proper conditions so as many people can benefit of the opportunities lifelong learning offers.

The major objective of our organization consists of guaranteeing universal and permanent access to the learning process, in view of developing and improving the skills and competences necessary for a sustained participation to social life.

In order to achieve our goals, we shall pursue the following targets:
• Significantly improve the means of participation to education and the assessment criteria;
• Develop teaching and learning methods and contexts in order to ensure the quality of the education process;
• Significantly get involved in the education process and the evaluation criteria;
• Ensure proper conditions so that every citizen has easy access to quality information concerning the education opportunities in the country and in Europe, throughout the life;
• Provide lifelong learning opportunities according to the requests of the society.
