Workshops for family learning in order to improve IT competences (Web 2.0) of parents with the help of their children, within the European project BASIC LIFE - Basic Web 2.0 Skills by Learning in Family Environment

The BASIC-LIFE project aims to support and motivate disadvantaged families by finding ways to enhance their knowledge and competences in the domain of ITC (Web 2.0), to increase the role family plays as a main vector in the development of the society and to mobilize all the members of the family to learn together.

The project is co-financed by the European Union within the "Lifelong Learning" Programme (Grundtvig action).

The target group of this project includes all kinds of families: single parents, families with small children, with teenagers of adult children, families in which more generations live together, etc.

Within this project 5 educational models have been developed regarding parents’ lack of ability in the domain of ITC (Web 2.0), in comparison to that of children/teenagers. The educational model developed in Romania is made up of 4 modules: "About me…", "We communicate!", "We collaborate!", "Perfect holiday with my family!".

The model is to be applied in March 2010 in “Sabin Manuila” school from Sambateni, Arad County. The implementation of the family learning module will be realized with 12 families from the Sambateni village, which during the workshops will learn and have fun together, within a relaxing and pleasant environment.

SREP has also realized a special blog so that the participating families can upload everything they have achieved during the workshops: www.srep.ro/basic-life/familyblog/
