"Contribute to change: young women in political careers" is a European project co-financed by the European Union within the Europe for Citizens Programme.
The partnership of the project gathers educational organisations from 3 European countries: Romania, Czech Republic and Northern Ireland (UK).

The project started from the idea that women in general and young women in particular are under-represented in the political field.
In order to encourage women to engage in political careers, they first need to be equipped with all the skills and competences necessary for a sustained participation in the social life.

This project aims thus at motivating young women aged 16-35 to become involved in a complex training programme based on participatory workshops that will teach them both self-esteem and free expression skills, as well as knowledge of participatory democracy, importance of active involvement in the political life at local and European level, the role of vote, etc.

The overall aim of all the actions of the project is to increase the participation of young women in the political life and to the vote by increasing their trust in the own forces.

The first activities of the project focus on a needs analysis carried out among young women of the target group in order to find out their educational needs. Based on these results, the curricula for the participatory workshops will be elaborated.

The participatory workshops will be run with a group of 10-15 women from each partner country, which will result in the end in 3 public debates organized and moderated by the participants themselves.

A success stories booklet with relevant stories and anecdotes of the activities, as well as a DVD with all the materials developed in the project will be available in the end of the project for professionals in order to share experience and good practice.

The project has a duration of 1 year, starting on 1st August 2009 and ending on 31st July 2010
